Chemistry Teacher – up to A Level

Start date: September 2014

Contract Length: Permanent

Location: North London

A high achieving Academy based in North London are looking for an outstanding and inspiring Chemistry Teacher to join their successful Science department on a permanent basis. The successful Chemistry Teacher will have excellent subject knowledge and must be able to teach Chemistry up to A Level confidently. Only very strong NQTs will be considered for this Chemistry role.

The Academy

The Academy has high academic standards coupled with a strong emphasis on developing students’ social and learning skills. Their learning culture embraces all aspects of life at the Academy, not just the lessons. Students are already making exceptional progress at the Academy and their performance was judged as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in a full Section 5 inspection during February 2011. The inspectors described teaching at the Academy as ‘stunning’ and the behaviour of the students as ‘impeccable’. In 2013, our inaugural examination year, 80% of Year 11 students achieved 5 x A*-C GCSE grades including Maths and English.

The Ideal Chemistry Teacher

To be considered for this post you will be an inspiring Chemistry Teacher with excellent knowledge of the Chemistry curriculum at KS3 – KS5. You must have a strong desire to develop your teaching & be fully involved in helping the Science department achieve good results & develop the overall Chemistry ability of all students. You will also be expected to have demonstrable experience in the following:

  • Structured Lesson Planning
  • Passionate and Dynamic
  • Classroom Presence

Only very strong NQTs will be considered for this Chemistry role.

The successful Chemistry Teacher will have:

  • A recognised Teaching Qualification (PGCE, QTS, BEd. or equivalent)
  • Ability to teach Chemistry at KS3 & KS4
  • Ability to teach Chemistry A Level is essential
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without restrictions
